Well it looks like the U.S. Forest Service is moving forward with a
proposal to change its policy for land use. See the article in
Today's Oregonian: :(

In my opinion, a few irresponsible off roaders are ultimately the
ones who have brought this on. Instead of going after the root
cause of the problem, it is easier (and less expensive) to just
close down the forest to all off road users. We don't close hunting
and fishing because of poachers; Why? Because there would be a huge
public outcry. If you do not choose to get involved in voicing your
opinion to the Forest Service now, before it is too late, then don't
cry about it later on! If there was ever a time for us to
collectively speak out it is now.

Did you see this story on page 10-11 of the July Blue Ribbon?
It says the "service" is monitoring off road websites, and seeing if two or more people are planning an "organized" ride, then wanting them to get a permit, see it at link
