The right Dual sport bike

Postby DEW » Fri Aug 13, 2004 12:22 pm

I'm looking for any advice on what bike to buy.
I live in Michigan, and want to get into Dual Sport riding.
I currently ride a 1980 CR250R and a 2002 Yamaha R1.
I'm about 6'1" and 165 #'s.
Any input would be appreciated.

Thanx

Dale,
You just about can't go wrong with a Suzuki DRZ400, for an off-the-shelf dualsport bike. With all those trails you have back there, the other option is to get a dirt bike and install a Baja Design kit.

Tom, thanks for your reply.
I'm new to this Dual Sport thing, but I think it will be Great.
I was considering a XR400.
Do you have any thoughts/recommendations on the XR 400?
Maybe pros and cons for the XR and the DRZ?
Thanks for your help.

Dale,
If you want a killer trailbike that doubles for occasional, short pavement stints, the XR400 is probably the best, all-around choice. Get one. The DRZ is much more comfortable on lengthy pavement rides, but less capable on the trails.
